Mount Carmel College is a premier institution for women’s education in India. Established in 1948, it is run by the sisters of the CSST order. The institution has stood the test of time which is reflected in its dynamism and energy.

Admissions Procedure

The admission policy ensures special consideration to the differently abled, economically backward, scheduled castes and tribes, backward communities and the catholic minority. Except for these special categories, the rest of the seats are allotted purely on merit.

Criteria for Admission

  1. Communication Studies & B.A HONOURS in Communication Studies has entrance exams which is scheduled on 28-04-2015 at 9 am.
  2. B.Com & BBM courses admission is based on merit.
  3. BCA Admissions - walk-in interview after the announcement of Results (Maths background Compulsory at the PUC / +2 /equivalent course)
  4. B.A & B.Sc walk-in interview after the announcement of Results
  5. Admission to all PG courses is based on merit.

Programs of Study

Mount Carmel College is affiliated to Bangalore University. The programmes of study offered by the college are

As per the Bangalore University norms Under Graduate Students in B.A / B.Sc programme are expected to study 3 core subjects over 6 semesters. Under graduate students in B.Com. (Regular) programme are expected to study 4 core subjects over 6 semesters. Under graduate students in B.Com. (Industry Integrated) programme are expected to study 5 core subjects over 6 semesters. In addition for students of all programmes there are 2 compulsory subjects over 4 semesters - General English and II language. Mount Carmel offers a wide range of choices for II language- Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil, German, French and Additional English. Students of all programmes must also get 8 compulsory credits from Value Education/ Catechism, Indian Constitution and Environmental Studies.

Placements

The Placement Cell of Mount Carmel College (autonomous) has been training students and providing them with opportunities to get placed in leading MNC'S, Banks, educational institutes, biotech firm's etc. since the year 2002.

Students from all disciplines undergo career counseling by a professional counselor throughout the year. The placement cell conducts various activities and workshops such as resume writing, interview skills, group discussions, aptitude tests and mock interviews for the students. The students also attend pre-placement talks organized by the companies which are then followed by tests and interviews in the collage campus.
